Welcome from Principal Michelle Vargas

Welcome to the 2016/2017 school year here at Roosevelt Elementary, I am looking forward to this upcoming school year for a number of reasons. While my focus for this school year will be to continue our growth on connection, engagement and opportunity for our students, staff, parents and community, I will also emphasize knowing the impact that we each have on our children.

My vision that every student can succeed academically, emotionally and socially with the assistance of a supportive team and proper infrastructure, will be a success.

I encourage you to build a strong relationship with your child’s teacher and to ask your child on a daily basis not what your child learned in school, but what sort of feedback they received from their teacher. Effective feedback has the ability to double a child’s learning.

We encourage students to be visible learners. Visible learners are students that:

  • Take ownership of their learning
  • Accept challenges
  • Monitor their learning
  • Have strategies to move forward in learning and,
  • Understand that having questions and making mistakes are part of the learning process

I am honored to work with an incredible group of people that know that their daily actions have an impact on students and are willing to work whole- heartedly to make a positive and lasting impact on each and every child.
